The ZEN 20-foot half-height DC-block container is engineered for demanding maritime electrification and high-safety Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) installations. Built around ZEN’s solid-block, moulded battery pack technology, the system delivers exceptional safety, reliability, and installation efficiency for large-scale electric shipping and other mission-critical energy applications.
Advanced Solid-Block Battery Architecture
At the core of the container is ZEN’s proprietary fully moulded battery module design. Each battery module is encapsulated in high-grade polyurethane, forming a solid protective block around the cells. This construction prevents cell-to-cell thermal propagation, significantly reducing the risk of cascading failures while also eliminating gas exposure to potential ignition sources.
Integrated Fire Protection
Safety is further enhanced with a fully integrated fire suppression system. In the highly unlikely event of an internal thermal incident, water-mist suppression is automatically activated inside the EX-certified battery pack, rapidly cooling the system and preventing escalation. This layered safety architecture makes the ZEN container suitable for environments with the strictest safety requirements.
High Density, Modular Energy Storage
The half-height container accommodates up to 144 solid-block battery packs, delivering high energy density while maintaining clear serviceability and structural integrity. The modular DC-block configuration enables flexible scaling for a wide range of vessel sizes and BESS deployments.
